Gold is the returning premium variant of the Sprite system — the first lineage to carry over from the Season 3 "Runners" generation into Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override." A Gold Sprite is the same creature dipped in shimmering gold, carrying a bonus of 3× Sprite XP from eliminations on top of its normal ability. Every released Season 4 Sprite except single-form Mega Man has a Gold form, from Gold Bush and the v42.20 arrivals Gold Pond, Gold Crash Bandicoot, Gold Blinky and Gold Morgana all the way to Gold Klombo, Gold Crown and the newest, Gold Honey and Gold One Wish Willow, live since October 15, 2026.
The elimination-XP bonus makes Gold the mastery accelerant of the variant system: carry a Gold Sprite while you fight and every knock pushes the Sprite toward max level three times faster. For a generation whose abilities all scale with level — shorter Bush timers, faster Shadow reloads, quicker Jackrabbit jumps — that XP multiplier compounds into real in-match power, not just a cosmetic glow.
How to Get Gold Sprites in Season 4
Gold Sprites drop the same way Normal Sprites do: in chests, supply drops and world spawns during Battle Royale matches, with the one absolute rule that you must extract before the match ends to keep your find. A Gold Sprite drops directly as Gold — there is no upgrading a Normal Sprite into one — and a successful extraction adds that Gold row permanently to your collection and your Sprite Garden. The one exception is Gold Crown, which you unlock by winning a match with Cheat Master Crown equipped. Since v42.20 on September 17, 2026, Legendary (orange) Cheat Codes are guaranteed to drop a variant Sprite.
Epic has not published drop rates for the Season 4 generation yet, so the Gold columns on this site show a verified empty state instead of invented numbers. For reference, in the Season 3 generation Gold variants were consistently rarer than Normal forms — if that pattern holds, expect each Gold to be a noticeably longer hunt than its base Sprite, with Gold Klombo and Gold Crown as the deepest chases on the board.
Gold vs Cheat Master vs Normal
Season 4 has seven forms. The sixth, Trick or Treat, has been live for Crown since October 1, for the other variant-capable Sprites since October 8 and for Honey and One Wish Willow since October 15, with no bonus published yet. The seventh, Quack, arrived on October 15 for only five Sprites — Jonesy, Bush, Adventure, Spooky Dash and Klombo — as a Sprite Mastery reward that gives the other Sprites you carry extra Sprite XP whenever it gains XP. Normal is the base Sprite, ability only. Gold adds the 3× elimination Sprite XP and the golden look. Cheat Master adds a Cheat Code perk and the green Matrix code-rain aesthetic, Loot Hacker adds more items from your Loot Hacks, and Bounty Hunter — live for Crown since September 17, for the other released variant-capable Sprites since Thursday, September 24, and for each newer Sprite since its release — has a chance to find Sprites when you eliminate opponents and gains Sprite XP only from eliminations. The underlying ability is identical across every form, so the variant choice is about which bonus fits your session: leveling a fresh Sprite fast favors Gold, engaging with the season's Cheat Code mechanic favors Cheat Master and leaning on Loot Hacks favors Loot Hacker.
This variant is live for every variant-capable Season 4 Sprite. Mega Man is single-form. Spooky Dash, Vampire, The Deer, and Dumpster Dive joined with five core forms each in v42.30, and Honey and One Wish Willow have had this form since October 15, when v42.40 released them with all six forms. As of October 15, 2026, the full checklist counts 162 released rows across 27 Sprites, including the five Quack rows added that day. Tracking Your Gold Set
The Gold hunt is a checklist within the checklist: one golden creature for every variant-capable Sprite, each a separate row, each demanding its own lucky find and successful extraction. The natural strategy is opportunistic — you cannot farm a specific Gold, so extract every one you cross and let the set assemble over the season. Carrying your newest Gold while you play doubles as strategy, since its elimination XP accelerates whichever ability you are leveling.
