Season Ends August 19 — What Happens to Your Sprites?
Chapter 7 Season 3 “Runners” ended on August 19, 2026. This historical guide preserves the transition details and final roster; your checklist is still available in the Season 3 checklist, while Season 4 “Override” is now live.
The short version — now officially confirmed
Epic has confirmed the answer: your 25 Sprites and 117 released variants are preserved permanently, but they retire from Battle Royale matches when Runners ends. Season 4 “Override” (August 20) introduces “a whole new generation of Sprites to collect and master — including new powers and variants,” and your Season 3 collection moves into the new Sprite Garden — a personal island where you can play with your Sprites, visit friends' gardens, and showcase everything you extracted this season. That makes the final days a true deadline: what you have collected by August 19 is what your Garden will hold.
The 8 Mythic Sprites of the Runners season — the collection's crown jewels.
Sprite Spree Week: the final event (live now)
Since August 14, the end-of-season Sprite Spree Week has been running: summoning Sprites is free (no Sprite Dust cost), Sprite XP is doubled, and standing near a lit Cozy Campfire doubles it again. Stacked together this is the best mastery-farming window the season has offered — if you still have Sprites to level to 5, do it this week. And spend your banked Sprite Dust now: Epic has confirmed it resets to zero when the season ends, so anything unspent on August 19 simply disappears.
What exactly carries over — and what resets
| Item | Season 4 fate |
|---|---|
| Your Sprite collection (117 variants) | Preserved permanently — Sprite Garden, Collection page, Mastery Pod Back Bling styles, Guardian Outfit pilots |
| Season 3 Sprites in BR matches | Retired from discovery — Epic says they “may return down the line” |
| Sprite Dust & Gizmos | Reset to zero (“seasonal housekeeping”) — spend them before Aug 19 |
| Sprite roster to collect | Whole new generation with new powers and variants, including the Design-A-Sprite winners: Bullet, Dumpster Dive, Honey, X-Ray, Pond |
| Your checklist here | Season 3 stays viewable, share codes decode forever, new roster tracked from day one |
This is the biggest commitment Epic has made to Sprites yet. The mechanic has a two-year history of being reinvented each chapter — Chapter 6's wildlife Sprites (Air, Water, Earth) were vaulted after two seasons, and the consumable Dash and Superman Sprites lasted just one — but the Runners generation is the first to be preserved rather than vaulted, with a dedicated Sprite Garden built around your collection. The Gaming-Legends-themed Override season is also rumored (not yet confirmed) to bring collab Sprites in the vein of this season's Batman and John Wick — dataminers have found Sonic, Pac-Man and Mega Man content in the season files.
Last-chance chases: the rarest rows still live
The collection locks on August 19 — whatever you have extracted by then is what your Sprite Garden will showcase. These are the variants completionists will wish they had chased — the lowest published drop rates in the game right now:
See the full drop rate table for every row, or open your checklist's Missing view to see which of these you still need. Remember the golden rule: a Sprite only counts once you extract it — dying with an unextracted Mythic on the last day of the season is the stuff of nightmares.
Protect your collection before the transition
Two minutes of insurance: open the Sprite Checklist and copy a backup code (or a share link) of your current collection. Codes are frozen against the roster version they were created with, so a Season 3 code will decode correctly forever — even after Season 4 changes everything. If you use Cloud Sync, your collection is already stored and will survive any device change through the transition.
What this site does on day one of Season 4
The moment the v42.00 update lands on August 20, we verify the new generation against the live game and multiple sources — patch notes, the in-game collection screen, and published drop rates — and update the same day. The new Override-season Sprites (starting with Bullet, Dumpster Dive, Honey, X-Ray and Pond) appear on the checklist with verified rates as they go live, and the What's New page will explain exactly how the transition played out, in plain language. Check back on August 20 — the new collection starts here.

When exactly does Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 end?
Chapter 7 Season 3 "Runners" ends on August 19, 2026, and Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" launches on August 20, 2026.
Will my Sprite collection carry over to Season 4?
Yes — Epic has confirmed your Season 3 Sprites are preserved permanently. They retire from Battle Royale matches, but live on in the new Sprite Garden (a personal island for your collection), on your Sprite Collection page, as Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling styles, and as pilots in the Guardian Outfit. Epic also says past Sprites "may return down the line."
Does Sprite Dust carry over to Season 4?
No. Epic has confirmed Sprite Dust and Gizmos are reset when Season 3 ends — "seasonal housekeeping" in their words. Spend your remaining Sprite Dust before August 19; summons are free during Sprite Spree Week anyway.
Will there be new Sprites in Chapter 7 Season 4?
Yes — Epic confirmed "a whole new generation of Sprites to collect and master — including new powers and variants." The five Design-A-Sprite contest winners are confirmed to join: Bullet, Dumpster Dive, Honey, X-Ray, and Pond. This checklist will track the new roster from day one.
Will the Sprite Checklist support Chapter 7 Season 4?
Yes. The new Override-season roster appears here the day it goes live, with verified drop rates as they are published. Your Season 3 collection stays viewable and every Season 3 share code keeps decoding forever.
